With COSCO Charity Foundation as its predecessor, COSCO SHIPPING Charity Foundation was established in October 2005 with the approval from the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs (MOCA), and officially inaugurated on December 20 the same year. Among the first batch of non-public offering, non-profit charity foundations initiated by SOEs in China, the Foundation was initiated by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING) and its subsidiaries with a registered capital of 100 million yuan.

As an extra-large centrally-administrated SOE, COSCO SHIPPING aims to integrate resources to build a world-class supply chain service provider with pillar industrial clusters of shipping, integrated logistics, and financial services.COSCO SHIPPING has positively answered the call of the CPC and central government, making great efforts to participate Poverty Alleviation in Tibet. The corporation has also advocated and taken part in different public welfare and charity undertakings. In order to help the corporation better fulfill its social responsibilities and extend such benevolent undertakings even more widely, COSCO SHIPPING Charity Foundation was therefore established.

With the purpose of carrying forward national spirit, showing its love, supporting the philanthropic and public welfare undertakings, and promoting social harmony, COSCO SHIPPING Charity Foundation has been proactively fulfilling social responsibilities and organized, in strict accordance with the donors’ will, a large number of social relief activities to help the needy, relieve those affected by disasters, and aid the impoverished population and financially disadvantaged students. By the end of 2017, it ran and implemented more than 400 charity projects, with an accumulated donation of over 500 million yuan. It also developed the “Yuan Hang” (Voyage) series of charity brand projects, including “Yuan Hang • Jia Yuan” (Voyage • Home), “Yuan Hang • Zhui Meng” (Voyage • Dream Chasing), “Yuan Hang • Si Lu” (Voyage • Silk Road), “Yuan Hang • Jian Kang” (Voyage • Health), “Yuan Hang • Lv Se” (Voyage • Green) and “Yuan Hang • Zhen Zai” (Voyage • Disaster Relief), with its footprints and love spreading all across China.
